Wow, where do I start with this one. I have a thing for vampires, and I like the dark, and creepy ones and that is exactly what I got. The narrator was fantastic, and seems to capture all the characters voices quite well, even thought this book seemed to be sooo long. I think the last audiobook I listened to was about 8 hours, and this one was 12. But it was so worth it. Anyway, Tana has woke up and her friends that she was partying with are dead. Well, the ex-boyfriend isn’t at least. Once they escape with some unexpected help, they have to make it to a Coldtown, where they have a chance to be safe.

Tana is in no way a stranger to vampires. She has a past where they are concerned, and the flashes back to those days was chilling. Definitely gave insight into why she was such a strong young girl. I liked the fact that this girl never gave up, even when things looked bleak. She made for a great heroine. The newly infected, ex-boyfriend Aidan, and the mysterious vampire Gavriel, were two characters that I liked from the start. They both added so much to the story, I can safely say that I never really felt like there was a love triangle between Tana, Aidan and Gavriel. They spend a large amount of time together, but I think it was pretty clear who Tana’s love interest really was. And when it was finally confirmed, I think I pretty much yelled, YES! Al of the characters, main and secondary all brought something to the story as a whole and I don’t we could have asked for better ones.

The whole concept behind Coldtown’s was freaking awesome and so frighteneing. Vampires and human living together, maybe not in harmony but vampires are glorified like celebrities. And the vampirism angle and they “become” was unique and completely terrifying at the same time. Inside the walls, there is plenty of tension, bloodshed and betrayals, the story itself does slow down some but at no point did I become bored or lose interest. And there is a romance and it was an interesting one of the forbidden kind. The unpredictability of the plot was freakin awesome, with things that I didn’t expect. The ending was sooo good, and I could definitely use another book in this world and especially more Tana and Gavriel.

The coldest Girl in Coldtown is one seriously dark and twisted world and I devoured every minute of it. I highly recommend the audiobook version of it. It even has creepy music. Loved it!

This is the first book in the Starbound, and follows Lilac and Tarver, who find themselves in the middle a catastrophic event. The Icarus, a spaceship that travels through hyperspace is going down. The only way to survive is to escape in a pod to a planet they both know nothing about.

The two main characters, Lilac and Tarver were likable and two very different people who happen to also come from different social classes. Lilac was spunky, and maybe she came across as being a spoiled young girl at first, but that wasn’t who she really was though. She was a strong, and what you see if what you get kinda girl. I liked her, maybe not so much at the start of the book, but she does grow into a wonderful character. Now on to Tarver, he might be a war hero, a hard worker and majorly attractive and girls would swooned over, but he comes from a lower social class and Lilac doesn’t give him the time of day. At first… These two amazing characters aren’t alone though, there were others who escaped Icarus, and I saw that the next book will follow another couple of their journey, can’t wait for that.

Being told from alternating POV’s, it gives us a chance to see just how much they grow, the things they go through and how they view each other. There are misconceptions made on both parts, but being thrown together in an escape pod, they learn to trust each other. They don’t have much of a choice either, the planet is mysterious, and holds some secrets they aren’t prepared for, and this had me completely enthralled and could not turn the pages fast enough. I had such a fascination of space and the planets growing up, so everything Lilac and Tarver figured out about this planet, they more I wanted to learn too. It is great! Even with everything going on, these two have this slow building love story, and is added so much to this already incredible story. I was a little worried about the twist that took place, but the ending was nicely done and brought it all together.

These Broken Stars was a beautifully written sci-fi love story and I captivated all the way through. The next installment, This Shattered World will not be out fast enough.

Beautiful Rose is the first in the series, and let me tell you, it is raw and emotional. Rose has been mentally unstable since she was a little girl, now as an adult, she is trying to just make it. Never does she think, that she will find happiness nor deserve it either. This will take you on a journey to find just that.

Rose is broken, but not for the reasons that we read about most of this time. She is haunted by her childhood, and events that took place. She is a mature young girl, who is trying to make it on her own. I like her a lot and felt for her, her story was heartbreaking. Now, Jack is one busy man. He is trying to make himself forget about his pain. He buys a bar, and has to hire people to work, and this is how he meets Rose. Now he does have a girlfriend, if that is what you want to call her. She is a horrible person, didn't like her at all. Jack was a pretty good guy, just needed to get some motivation to move on from his loss. There are a few characters like Jack's brother, Alex, that I just adored. He was so sweet and I really hope there is more about him in the next book.

This is told from Rose and Jack's perspective, and is an emotional roller coaster, from both sides. They both have back stories that they are still dealing with each and every day, each in their own ways. Believing that they neither one deserve happiness was hard to read at times, and their journey to find it wasn't an easy one. Johnson does a wonderful job making me fall for both of them and become so invested in their lives. I have to mention Jack and Alex and their sibling bond as well as the friendship they had with each other. I thought it was great to see, especially in a book that is so emotional, Alex was supportive and caring not only for Jack but Rose too. Plotwise, it is hard to tell you a lot about it, because it will spoil and take away from being able to read and experience the emotions that were invoked by Rose's childhood, and why she is suffering mental instability. A few sensitive subjects are dealt with, and I feel that they were handled with a great care and sensitivity. Now, there is a HEA for them, but I am curious to see who the next book will be about. Hopefully Alex. *hint, hint**

Beautiful Rose is an intensely raw and emotional story, there are twists and drama that will keep you turning pages till you reach the end. I would definitely recommend this one.

Echoes of Balance in the first in The Ways Trilogy, it has a beautiful cover and the plot definitely has some potential. Vampires, demons, and a race name Naimei. Who are they, what are they, all things that I wanted to know. And a young girl who is at the center of it all. Sounds good right? Chloe has to play the part of being a typical highs school and do all the things that teenage girls do. This is not her real mission though, she has to find and befriend person that is fear by her race as a weapon in the resurrection the Original Demons. And try and stop it from happening.

Chloe is a hunter, vampires, demons, you name it, she hunts it. Her heritage calls for it. She really isn’t interested in the Ways and their doings. She seems to have a good head on her shoulders and isn’t perfect, and even though she just wants to hunt, she has a maturity to her that makes her more aware of consequences of her actions. Chloe was a great main character. Chloe’s family and friends and even the few new people she meets are made for a fantastic cast. There is a possible love interest, and there are two of them but no long triangle presented itself, not enough time for that with the whole possible end of the world thing going. I have to say, that I think either pick would be a good one, so I am looking forward to seeing how the “romance” plays out in the next book.

The story has it all, shape shifters, vampires, and one set of people who have some special powers and who are suppose to keep balance of it all. I was happy that the traditional aspect was kept when it came to all the paranormal creatures. They weren’t especially evil, but the mysterious about them, is what I enjoyed. Are the looking out for themselves, or are they part of the plan to bring back the Demons that could destroy the world. The Naimei is in interesting race, they have laws and traditions to keeping the peace and balance between the world and the supernaturals. The Originals Demons will cause havoc, and following Chloe on her journey to learn who and why this is all happening was a pretty good ride. And her meeting two enigmatic vampires, helped too. The was enough action at times, that it kept me turning the pages to see what happened.

I think that overall this is a really good start to the series, the characters were ones that I enjoyed and the plot itself was too. The ending set up for the next book and I was happy with it, so I’ll be on the lookout for it. I would recommend pick it up.
