Hidden - Kristin Cast, P.C. Cast
3.5 stars... Review to come shortly Hidden is the 10th book in the House of Night series. We pick soon up soon after Neferet has been exposed to the High Council. The academy in chaos over all the recent deaths and turmoil caused by Neferet. Zoey and her circle are still trying to pick up the pieces of all that has happened. It’s not easy either. Neferet is still up to her old tricks and is one massive villain. Our main characters, Zoey and Stark are still doing good together. I have always like Zoey, she is just fascinating to me. And Stark is one of my favorites of this entire series. Everything about him is interesting. He is a great strength for Zoey and he truly loves her. Together they make an unstoppable team. Zoey and Stark’s relationship is still strong even though it has been tested time and time again. I still can’t help but to root for them. I do however wish Zoey would have more faith in her gifts and not doubt herself so much.Aphrodite is still Aphrodite. She is just as snarky as ever and just doesn’t care what others think. I have to say that I do really like her character. My only complaint, is there is so much bickering between Aphrodite and Shaylin. At times it was just irritating. The Red Fledglings are starting to fit in more and have strong powers that are amazing. Shaylin is learning how to control her power and read people aura’s. She is becoming a powerful ally for Zoet and the circle. Thantos is trying her best to help all them and get the Academy back to normal and to stop Neferet. And Grandma Redbird, she has to be one of the most amazing characters in this series. She has incredible strength in her beliefs that are simply inspiring. The world building was slow for me. There isn’t really much going on for a lot of the book with all the plotting and planning to rid themselves of Neferet. And Neferet was working hard to cause choas in the world and has found a new way to do just that and with working with darkness she finds another way to cause Zoey harm, maybe not physically but she certainly finds a way to get at Zoey. I think the two characters that really made this book for me was Kalona and Aurox. I really enjoyed them and their growth. I didn’t ever think I would like Kalona, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. There is enough action towards the end, and twist to keep my interest. Zoey now has a whole new set of problems to deal with. We are left with somewhat of a cliffhanger, so I certainly pick up the next book in the series to see what is going to happen. If you are a fan of the House of Night series, you won’t be disappointed. I would definitely say give this one a try.
